La Vega Story

Though supermarkets are plentiful, go to La Vega to experience the open market where farmers trek to vend their wares daily. Set in the corner of Nueva Rengifo & López de Bello, Santiago.

I particularly loved going to La Vega to purchase everything from spices to flowers. The market proved convenient while hosting a large format dinner in Santiago; a lot of time had to be allocated for the cooking and decorating. Though I was unable to take pictures of the market, it was truly inspiring.

Sometimes, memories are as good just as memories.

The dinner was eventful; an uncle sang us Chilean hymns, my first machismo altercation, three aunts brought me the same cake by fate, making me eat the same cake over and over again in front of them. The warmth and generosity of Chileans are unforgettable.
